MR IRRELEVANT XLVI, GRANT STUARD

Irrelevant Week is proud to announce Mr. Irrelevant XLVI, Grant Stuard, a linebacker from Houston.

A captain of the 2020 Houston squad, Stuard led the team with 97 tackles and broke up four passes in 12 starts. He was voted a first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection in 2020 with a team-high 61 tackles in just seven starts.

When asked how it felt to be selected he replied, "It was a total surprise. My whole family was here with me and we were so excited. I'm really happy that I can lead by example and show my friends and family that no matter what kind of adversity you face, as long as you set your mind to it, you can do anything."

CEO and daughter of Paul Salata the founder of Irrelevant Week, Melanie Salata Fitch, made the announcement from the NFL Draft stage in Cleveland along with thousands of Ohio's biggest football fans. The personalized Tampa Bay jersey donning the name "Mr. Irrelevant" and #259 was on full display as the announcement was made.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the reigning Super Bowl champions, selected seven players from this year's draft including Mr. Irrelevant.

Due to the nature of the various restrictions in place surrounding COVID-19 and the availability of the honoree, the Irrelevant Week team is keeping their options open in terms of planning the celebration. Whether it takes place in Newport Beach or in Tampa Bay, the team will strive to create a unique celebration that will make him feel honored to be the newest member of the Mr. Irrelevant fraternity.

Over the past 45 years, Irrelevant Week has become a much-anticipated and beloved celebration honoring football’s underdog, while also making charitable contributions to the community. In fact, Irrelevant Week has donated more than $1 million to charities over the past four decades. Previous beneficiaries include SPIN - Serving People in Need, and the Orange County Youth Sports Foundation among others.
