JOHN TUGGLE - 1983
John Tuggle, a running back from University of California, Berkeley, was picked #335 by New York Giants. The consummate, courageous underdog, Tuggle was the first Mr. Irrelevant to survive training camp and make the team that picked him in the draft. The New York Giants took this unflashy running back from Cal with their final pick and Tuggle wouldn’t give them a reason to cut him. Cancer cut short his NFL career in 1984 and eventually ended his life in 1986.
